Business Computer Courses

Course levels available are introduction and advanced, and each course provides users with a thorough understanding and practical application of the most widely used business software available, such as Windows 95 and Microsoft Office, which comprises of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Apart from these programs, we also offer all levels of training in Microsoft FoxPro, Microsoft Project and Lotus SmartSuite. In addition, we provide standard introductory courses in Windows 3.1 and DOS.

Each course is created to educate training participants in all relevant hardware, software and people-ware. Students will be exposed to hands-on application of the course material in actual work situations as well as be educated in basic operating system commands in DOS to provide a strong foundation for computer literacy and proficiency.

Windows 95
The Windows 95 operating system is considered as the industry standard in organisations, companies and schools all over the world. The Windows 95 class is designed for students who want to learn how to manipulate and run Windows; run and switch between programs; change the properties of the desktop; and open drives and folders. The two course levels available are introductory and advanced. Topics covered include file organisation, creating icons, command lines, desktop, program operation, testing and attaching peripherals. Furthermore, instruction on all standard Windows 95 applications such as Notepad, Paint and Calculator. New users to computers are strongly recommended to begin with the Windows 95 course to provide a foundation to use other Windows programs effectively in the future.

Microsoft Office
These classes are designed for students who want to learn how to utilise and run the programs that comprise of the Microsoft Office suite, namely, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Topics also covered in the individual courses are using the Microsoft Office Shortcut bar, Microsoft Binder and Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Word
This class is designed for students who want to learn to create and move through a document; save, open, and close a document; create, edit and format text; change paragraph alignment, line spacing , and paragraph indent of a document. In addition, students will learn to create headers and footers; define page margins, paper size, and page orientation; and preview and print a document.

Microsoft Excel
This class is designed for students who want to enter and edit information in a worksheet; open, save, and manage workbooks; and navigate worksheets and workbooks. In addition, students will learn to perform calculations on worksheet data; manipulate worksheet data; format the contents of a worksheet, as well as prepare, setup and print a worksheet.

Microsoft PowerPoint
This class is designed for students who want to learn to open and create a presentation file and run slide show work with enhanced text; in addition to drawing and format of lines and graphic objects. Students will also gain proficiency in working with clip art; using Microsoft Graph; using the slide sorter view, adding transitions, automatic timing to a slide show, and printing a presentation.

Microsoft Access
This class is designed for students who want to learn to open and create table database files and form designs; as well as create reports and format lines and graphic objects. In addition, participants will learn to manipulate tables; use queries to sort information, produce supplementary reports, together with using the wizard, creating relationships between tables and printing a database.

Microsoft FoxPro
This class is designed for students who want to learn to manage large quantities of data in a database file using FoxPro tools, shortcuts and commands. In addition, students will learn how to manipulate database formats, conduct various types of searches, create forms and other tables; as well as extract data from other programs and file types.

Microsoft Project
This class is designed for students who want to learn to plan, organise and complete projects using the Microsoft Project task-based planning program. Students will be able to create project teams, use time management, itemise tasks, and delegate tasks for each project. In addition to viewing your project progress in a variety of formats, implementing a user-specified interface, project tabulation, follow-up and correlation.

Lotus SmartSuite
This course is designed for students who want to learn how to open, create and use the programs which comprise of Lotus World Pro by Lotus Corporation. These software applications include word processing in Lotus 1-2-3, which also includes integration with Lotus Freelance Graphics. In addition, students will learn to make presentations using Lotus Approach, and Lotus Organiser for data management, organising tables and other data procedures.
